Friday, June 17, 2005Summer in the City
Hello, all. My summer's been going by nice and slowly. I've been enjoying the sunshine, taking hikes, and working on a novella called "The Angry Nap" about a narcoleptic private eye. I have most of it done except for the ending, which I was working on yesterday when Tumble tried to fix the leak in the hallway with a hammer. So now I'm writing from the Motel 6 on I-79 trying to finish up the novella, but between Chestnut's sleep-mumbles and the homeless guys outside arguing over who gets to sing next, it's been a heady task.
Our landlord Phil is trying to figure out the cause of the leak. Chestnut thinks it's probably the pot plants Phil's been growing in the roof drainpipe, but Phil says we shouldn't rule out other possibilities until the plants are fully grown.
Well, I should get going. Tumble drew the short straw and is honking from the Pontiac for more blankets.
